So, what is insurance?

According to Merriam-Webster Online, insurance is "coverage by contract whereby one party undertakes to indemnify or guarantee another against loss by a specified contingency or peril."

Today's consumers need to deal with many different kinds of insurance; auto insurance, life insurance and health insurance are just some of the most frequently used types. While a knowledgeable insurance agent may help, it is still important for you and me to understand the basics of insurance to tell good from bad.
